Emerald Community House goes to the Emerald Isle!
Emerald Community House Manager, Mary Farrow will be presenting ECH’s “Centres of Resilience – Shared responsibility and empowering communities” later this month at the World Community Development Conference in Ireland. CoR has been recognised in the Monash/EMV Compendium of Case Studies Victorian Community-based Resilience Building Activities and received a Highly Commended Community Award from Resilient Australia, sponsored by the Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department. Resilient Australia showcases and celebrates the efforts of individuals and groups within communities across Australia who are leading the way in making the country better prepared for disasters and emergencies.
The World Community Development Conference will encompass cutting edge inputs, papers, creative installations and presentations on rights-based community development, addressing and engaging locally, nationally and internationally with key current issues.
The conference is organised jointly by Community Work Ireland, the Department of Applied Social Studies, Maynooth University, and the International Association for Community Development, which in 2018 celebrates its 65th anniversary.
